Can We Talk?

I've been wanting to write this for a while. It's taken me a week or so to actually muster the strength to do it.
You guys have likely noticed my absent posting on here. I've remained fairly diligent at posting on The Halfling Writer, while posts over here have dwindled to around 3 or 4 a month. Including award posts, which are certainly annoying for most.

I don't know why I'm not posting.
To be honest, I haven't touched my dolls much.
And before you start squirming, no, I'm not growing out of them.
I just... have a lack of fire and inspiration, I suppose.

I forced myself to go outside and take pictures of MK.
While I enjoyed it, and found a new appreciation for the beauty of nature, none of the dolls have been touched since I took these pictures last week.

It's not like I've been busy.
I mean, I have, but not in the sense where I don't have the time to take pictures.
I just... don't want to.
I don't know. It's a weird thing going on right now.

I'm still going to post on here.
I just don't know when.
Or what.

But I'm going to try my hardest to get my spark back.
Just... not forcing myself to do so.

I also want to apologize for not being an entirely great follower.
It's rare that I leave comments now, but I just want to let you all know that I still read your stuff and smile at everything. You're all so creative and do such wonderful things.

Thanks to all who understand as I work this whole thing out.
I may just pop in occasionally and post some pictures.
Hopefully I can get inspired again and start doing more.

Love you all.

~Adaline

  1. I miss you! I understand what you're going through. I'm going a phase like that too. Don't worry, we'll get through this.

    2. I felt that same way as the school year wrapped up. Kenna and Ally were literally just sitting upstairs on a stool for like, a week. I think you are a great photographer and know you will get your inspiration back soon. ;)

  2. I am going through the same phase right now. I want to encourage you to not push yourself into doing stuff with your dolls, because that probably won't make you start liking them more. Also, I found that just doing my dolls hair or dressing them up for like 5 minutes if I have time, is more fun then the stress of creating a post. So, you might have more desire to play with your dolls if you just take a little bit of time and not worry about posting. I hope this may give you a bit of inspiration, have a fabulous week!

    1. Thanks, Jessica Rae. I certainly won't be pushing myself. Thanks for the idea, I'll try and just do small things for a bit and see how that goes. =)

  3. I'm in the same position-I have only been posting on my blog once a week now, when I used to almost every day, as I'm sure you have noticed. I'm not outgrowing my dolls, but I feel embaressed talking about them in front of people.
Whatever you deceide to do with this blog is your choice, and posting is up to you, the author of this fabulous blog! And those pictures of MK are beautiful.

  4. Oh, Adi...don't worry about it. I know the feeling, really- from about April 2014 to June 2014, I felt very similar, and in November I actually felt as though I was drifting away from my dolls and didn't want to continue my doll blog. It takes time, I'm glad to hear you're not going to push yourself. Taking time to do things that aren't doll related is important, I know I've learned that through personal experience. And as for not commenting, welcome to my world. I don't always comment, but I always read posts. I used to be so good at commenting on everything...regardless, I understand what you're going through. I do hope your inspiration returns, but I know that no matter how long it takes to come back it'll be worth the wait- your posts are always something I look forward to, and don't think I'm the only one that feels this way. :) ♥

On another note, these photos of MK are stunning, the lighting is wonderful ^_^

I hope you have a lovely week, Adi :)

    1. I've had the same thing before, I just didn't expect to go through it again. But here I am, and here I shall have to stay until I get out of this rut. :P
Thanks for the encouragement, Maddie. You're always such a help. <3

  6. I understand how you feel perfectly. I've been feeling the exact same way recently. I'm not growing out of them, I'm just not in a creative stage of my life and just haven't been feeling extremely connected to them but yet, I still love them.
Perhaps it is a usually thing to go through for doll lovers every now and then.^_^
You can post as much or as little as you want , Adi. We don't care as long as you keep posting on G+ about fob so we know your okay. xD
Oh, man could you please borrow me your photography skills just for a few hours? Because these pictures of MK are stunning. STUNNING. SSTTTUUUUNNNIIIINNNNGGGGGGG. *Cough cough*
Sorry *cough* but I love these photos.xD
You have so many talents, Adi. You run two of the best blogs there are and you inspire so many people in countless different ways. I love both of your blogs to death and so many more people do as well.
If there is anything I can ever do for you, let me know.<3
Hope you have a wonderful week!^_^

      Haha, I don't think I'll ever stop posting FOB on G+. And if I do, you have reason to worry. :}
I'd give them to anybody as long as they gave me their's in return.
Aww Ry, you always cheer me up, y'know that? Thanks for being such a sweet Blogger buddy. <3

  7. I know exactly how you feel. I go through fazes where it seems as if the importance of my dolls disappears, and even if this isn't just a faze, it's ok. We all love your blog and your lovely sense of humor. Whenever you are ready Adi. :)

  8. It's perfectly all right, Adi. I understand completely. I went through this exact stage from early 2012 to mid 2014, and, to be honest, I would have been waaaay more squeamish about admitting it than you (so kudos on that, definitely). Do what you want to do and take your time, and don't consider it an obligation to post.
And, no, you've been a wonderful follower. Your comments always brighten my day so incredibly much, and going along with my awkward blog transition was extremely sweet and generous. :) It's perfectly okay that you don't always comment - perfectly okay. Don't worry about it.

    Namarië,
    Ellie :)

PS - I do think those pictures of MK are some of the best you've taken yet. The first couple especially are quite stunning. <3

  10. I think I relate quite well to the uninspired-ness. Often times I have felt this way, but forcing yourself isn't the best option either. I still think your posts are great, and whenever you're back, know we'll be here :) I know this comment isn't super long or anything, but, well, I relate to the post a lot, so, yeah... :)

  12. No worries! I do that a lot off and on. For a couple weeks I don't even glance at my dolls, and then the next few weeks they are like the center of what I do everyday. XD Don't force yourself. Post at your own pace, and I'm sure you'll be inspired soon. :)

  13. Don't worry Adi; we all understand! I'm sure you'll get a sudden burst of inspiration any day now. :D Try not to exhaust yourself worrying about it; it's your blog, not ours! Therefore, you get to decide when you want to post. Don't worry about us, we've all got stuff to do, and will be sure to check when you do post again. :D

  14. Not to worry. Well all be here, waiting patiently.
Don't feel compelled to post until inspiration hits.
You can tell how a person is feeling by their body language and tone of voice and even writing. I wonder if the same works for their photography. You shouldn't have to force yourself.
Anyway, a blog is a creative outlet. It's there to make you happy. If you're just not feeling it, don't bother.
Like I said, we'll wait for the phase to pass.

  16. I understand. I feel like the older I get, the less creative I get. I follow you, so I'll just pop on over when you do post stuff. Maybe you should look up ideas of new things to do with your dolls. Maybe try doing doll outfit contests or something. Maybe you should dress your dolls up as a character or something, and we have to guess. (I might use that idea myself.) :) I'd give you more ideas, but none are really are popping out to me right now. I hope you get some inspiration somewhere. :D

  19. Aw, Adi.
I feel that way too, a bit.
And to be honest, it's partly because of you. In the best way.
Your photos are always so creative, and you get tons of comments on your posts, and everyone just plain adores you. I always felt like whatever I did, you could do better, and more people would see it anyways.
    So I didn't do anything.
I'm not saying this to make you feel bad, just to tell you how awesome and wonderful you are.
    :)

    1. It took me a long while to figure out how to reply to this. I never quite thought that I could have this effect on somebody.
I find it ironic though that you say this because I'm quite astounded by what you do. You have an amazing series that you update frequently, and you're always so amazingly funny in comments.
My friend and I just recently had a long chat about being slightly jealous of others and what they do, and the thing I'm coming to terms with and learning is that there's always going to be people who can do things better than you can. The thing is to just do what you do and be your best, whether or not you think somebody else is doing it better.
Aaaannnd that was a really long-winded comment, and I apologize. But please, don't let me stop you from posting. I love your stuff, and I know that your followers do as well. =3
